Find out how schools can get involved with Calderdale Valley of Sanctuary this term, with a highlight on becoming a School of Sanctuary.
Join us for our Autumn term meeting – all Calderdale schools are welcome to join!
We especially encourage you to register for this meeting if you are interested in finding out about the process of becoming a School of Sanctuary. We will be able to offer £50 towards the first 10 schools who wish to undertake the process to offset any costs incurred.
Itinerary:
- What is a School of Sanctuary and what is the process? (plus Q&A)
- Danielle from Beech Hill to talk about how they have become our first School of Sanctuary in Calderdale
- What can I do to support refugees and asylum seekers in school (whether the school has any refugee or asylum seeker families or not)?
- Daniel from Copley Primary School to talk about how they have effectively raised awareness of refugee and asylum issues amongst families and pupils even though they don’t have refugees or families seeking asylum at their school
- A representative from Calderdale Valley of Sanctuary to discuss how to become a member, what resources are available to schools and information about what has been achieved over the past year
