Why volunteer with us?

Whether you have an hour a month or want to take on a bigger role, there’s a place for you.

We’re always looking for volunteers who are:

  • Friendly and welcoming
  • Passionate about inclusion and justice
  • Willing to learn about the asylum system and the people it affects

Volunteering with us is flexible, values-led, and always supported.


Our volunteering opportunities:


Join Our Board of Trustees

Help guide our direction, shape our priorities, and keep our work rooted in a culture of welcome.

We’re especially keen to hear from people who:

  • Have lived experience of the asylum or immigration system
  • Bring skills in charity governance, finance, fundraising, or community organising
  • Care about building a borough of sanctuary

🕒 Ongoing role, approx 6 meetings per year + involvement in-between
💬 Induction and individualised support provided

No experience is necessary!


Event Volunteers

Help out at stalls, community events, and Refugee Week celebrations.

Tasks might include:

  • Talking to people about our work
  • Setting up banners and displays
  • Giving out flyers
  • Helping people sign up as members

🕒 As needed throughout the year
🙌 Great for friendly, confident communicators – training provided


Comms & Behind-the-Scenes Help

Support us with storytelling, social media, our website or resource creation — remotely or in person.

We sometimes need help with:

  • Posting to Instagram/Facebook
  • Writing or proofreading blog posts or other content
  • Designing new materials

🕒 Flexible, project-based
🌍 Can be done from home
